CHICAGO – Illinois Environmental Council Executive Director Jen Walling released the following statement in anticipation of today’s City Council budget consideration:
“The City of Chicago’s proposed FY2023 budget includes significant steps forward in staffing, resources, power and responsibility for the environment, environmental justice and climate projects at the City of Chicago. We urge alderpersons to vote to support that progress. Chicago should lead the nation in securing just, affordable, community-based solutions to climate change, ending sacrifice zones of pollution hotspots and ensuring clean, lead-free drinking water. A vote for this budget will move us closer to being the leader our city should be.”
