2023 Environmental Lobby Day
What is Lobby Day?
For decades now, IEC’s Lobby Day has connected enviros from across the state with their elected representatives in the General Assembly to effectively advocate for Illinois’ people and environment. During Lobby Day, enviros from across the state gather in Springfield to meet with their legislators and advocate for the environmental issues that matter to them most.

- When: April 19, 2023
- Where: Illinois State Capitol Building, Springfield, IL
- Cost: Free!
- Arrival: 10-11 AM, based on where you’re leaving from
- Departure: 2 PM

Rally
We will be rallying in front of the Lincoln statue with legislators and speakers on the important bills we’ll be supporting during the day. You are highly encouraged to bring environmental and climate-themed rally signs for this part of the day’s event! You can store them at our check-in table in the capitol until it’s time for the rally.
Who is Lobby Day for?
Designed for those new to the process and returning advocates alike, we’ll guide participants through every step of the process. You’ll be paired up with seasoned environmental advocates who will support you and your neighbors through these conversations.

What to Bring
- A packed lunch and snacks
- Comfortable shoes
- Dress for the weather– our rally will be outside rain or shine!
- Bring signs, but nothing on a post
- Please do not bring any weapons or drugs, you will need to go through security to enter the building
Catch a Bus
We are working on raising funds for buses to bring all who are interested to Springfield. Let us know when you register if you’re planning to take the bus with us, and we’ll be in touch with details once the details are finalized. You are of course, welcome to take Amtrak or drive if that better suits your needs.
Getting to Springfield
For those who plan on driving themselves, please find a map of the surrounding area of the Capitol Building in Springfield, IL.
Please aim to arrive between 10-11 AM. If you come before those times, you may have to wait for some time for the buses to arrive and to be connected with your team. There is free parking at the visitor’s lot at College and Edwards, but it fills up quickly. You may need to use metered parking.
